Vancouver Headlines: June 25th

The interim report from the city’s housing affordability task force is in. Its conclusion: that the city needs to break down barriers to affordable housing. Whoa.

That said, the task force has outlined a number of goals aimed at increasing city participation in the housing market.

It’s all about second second chances. The Province reports on the case of a disgraced Saskatchewan Mountie transferred to B.C., marking the second time this year that a police officer with a questionable history has found a new home in this province.

Never one to rely on hyperbole, The Sun reports on the city’s West Side residents, who are, apparently, trapped in a “food desert”. Translation: they live in neighbourhoods where you actually have to travel for more than five minutes to buy groceries.
