Vancouver Headlines: June 14th

Two weeks in, and already June’s mean temperature is one of the lowest ever recorded. And, according to environmentalists and climatologists, it’s also not likely to get any better. Whee.

In keeping with our province’s long history of moderate voting behaviour, a recent poll revealed that, if an election were held today, the NDP would capture 78 of B.C.’s 85 seats. The governing Liberals? Just three.

Oh, that lovable scamp: B.C.’s chief provincial health officer, Dr. Perry Kendall has come out in favour of legalizing MDMA, reports The Sun. Kendall, along with medical professionals such as Harvard’s Dr. John Halpern, advocates legalizing and regulating the drug, trading in popular hysteria in favour of an evidence-based approach to public health.

Oh yeah, and if you haven’t heard, Metta World Peace is in Vancouver. Who is that, you may ask? That’s Mr. World Peace to you.
