Vancouver Headlines: June 12th

Yesterday, Stanley Cup rioter Emmanuel Alviar received a one-month jail sentence for his participation in last summer’s destruction, reports The Globe. Alviar and his lawyers admitted surprise at the sentence, apparently unaware that being involved in public disorder and causing millions in property damage in front of thousands of people might warrant any sort of punishment.

Speaking of hockey, we’re pretty sure that somebody won the Stanley Cup. Or something.

Yesterday, a 1-2 year old Humpback whale died after washing ashore in White Rock.
