The seasons have officially changed as a heavy rainfall warning is issued across Metro Vancouver, with meteorologists predicting 50 to 70 mm of rain today.

NDP deputy leader Libby Davies, MP for Vancouver East, has announced she won’t be seeking to replace Jack Layton as leader of the New Democratic Party. Davies, known for her work on housing affordability and poverty, enjoys nationwide support, but views her inability to speak French as too great a hurdle.

The Vancouver Police Department announce 70 suspects in the Stanley Cup riot have now turned themselves in, as they release yet another batch of photos online. Still, 100 days on, no formal charges have been laid.

Troy Davis died in a Georgia prison yesterday evening, following the Supreme Court of the United States’ refusal to stay his execution. Davis had become the center of a heated debate on capital punishment and racial inequality in America, following a death sentence doled out 22 years ago, marred by eyewitness recantations and inconsistencies.
