Vancouver firefighters released the list of candidates they’re endorsing for council. Doesn’t look too good for the NPA…

Armstrong RCMP say they have received a letter claiming to be from the killer of 18-year-old Taylor Van Diest which suggests further violence against women. Van Diest was found severely beaten Halloween night near railroad tracks commonly used as a shortcut in the Okanagan community.

B.C. Supreme Court judge Anne MacKenzie has halted proceedings in the City of Vancouver’s bid for an injunction to shut down Occupy Vancouver. MacKenzie has delayed hearings for a week to give lawyers for the protesters more time to prepare their case. In the meantime, an interim order was granted to force the removal of fire hazards from the site. MacKenzie ruled that all tarps and tents cited as a fire hazard must be removed by 2pm and all remaining tents must be at least one metre apart.

Students at Penn State flipped a news van, downed light posts and clashed with police following the dismissal of football coach Joe Paterno. Paterno and school president Graham B. Speiner were fired over their handling of allegations of sexual abuse by former assistant coach and accused serial pedophile Jerry Sandusky.

One of Canada’s top experts on energy says current export policies for natural gas will ultimately shortchange British Columbians. According to Dave Hughes, a former coal expert at Natural Resources Canada, demand will outstrip supply by 2035 even if all exports were stopped immediately, The Tyee reports.
