Wanting to get an earful of what was on offer during Saturday’s Record Store Day celebrations, Dependent photographers tossed on their most threadbare rock tees, stuffed their pockets with earplugs, and headed down to Neptoon Records for a generous helping of aural pleasure.
Audience and onlookers were treated to 14 local acts over the course of the day, including a number of premiere performances by bands such as The Excitations and Blondewich.
At times, it was a touch loud for some:
As artists rocked out individually:
In twos:
Or in threes:
The performances showcased some fine musicianship:
And were enjoyed by performers and audience alike.
After nearly 10 hours of bands such as Red Cedar, The Tranzmitors, Bleeding Horse Express, and Petroleum ByProduct, we staggered from Neptoon on full musical overload. With feedback still ringing in our ears, we declared this year’s Record Store Day a resounding success. Looking forward to next year.
