Canucks Plot Regicide
Apr 17th, 2010 | By Matt Chambers | Category: BLAHGI’m in love with the newspaper headlines for the Vancouver - L.A. series. “Royal Flush”, courtesy of Thursday’s 24 Hours has got to be my favourite so far. It was printed beneath a picture of a crown actually being flushed down the toilet.
In the same spirit, our breathless coverage of the Canucks playoff run will be accompanied by clever titles and large photographs. Since we’re too poor to go to a game, we’ll be covering it from the streets and offering up weak imitations of our bigger brothers.
Keeping that in mind, this next sentence is an homage to The Province:
Thursday’s thrilling OT victory over the Los Angeles Kings leaves Vancouver police bored and happy.
Liam and I rode downtown afterward and found the streets largely empty. A couple of bored-looking police officers stood at the corner of Granville and Robson, and we found a C.T.V news crew practically asleep in their van.
The people we did see though, were jubilant, inebriated, and sporting mild Olympic hangovers.
If the rain subsides, I imagine tonight will be a little more lively…
