Vancouver is an underground hotbed for the sex and porn industry. Internet prostitution in Toronto is higher only because because of population density and it's too cold out for most of the year to work outside....oh and the Leafs suck. Craigslist has made all those round-abouts in the West End redundant. you know those things you have to drive around at intersections. The public has been under the impression that the roundabouts and the no -thru roads were put in the West End to curb traffic and speeders through the West End...Yes, however the media failed to mention that alot of the 'traffic' were tricks and Johns cruising the West End. VPD and the city saw this as a way of discouraging johns from coming DT and staying in the DTES. With the development of Yaletown, (purchasing/renting out of condos for in-call service) in conjunction with the recent popularity of Craigslist, the logistics of the industry in Vancouver have changed. IMO Craigslist is keeping it off the streets and is giving sex trade workers more control and safety in their line of work. I don't think Canadian Laws concerning prostitution will change anytime soon. VPD and the city are satisfied that if it's out of sight it's out of mind. The Canadian government will not act against the oldest profession in the world unless it can get kickbacks... don't do it craigslist... Although this may be the case in many situations there are loads of escorts (myself being one of them) who do not come from that background. There are many well adjusted women out there who offer services as sex providers and do it without ever having a bad experience.
