Joe Hansard: FightHST

Responding to our request for crudely-drawn political cartoons, a fellow calling himself “Joe Hansard” submitted this little beauty.

Dependent editors were torn over whether to post it or not; Vander Zalm once sued the Victoria Times Colonist for defamation over a comic depicting him tearing the wings off of a fly.

For others, the concern was less a matter of litigation than it was of taste. More than one contributor has referred to the comic as juvenile, and some in our ranks believe its publication will undermine the credibility of our magazine.

So, should we post it or not?

  1. Mr. Chambers, we live in a postmodern society. There is no juvenile, there is no sophisticated, there is no high culture, there is no low brow … there are only ass jokes.

  4. This is the BEST day of my life. First, I watch the Jackass 3D trailer. And then I stumble onto this cartoon? Come on. This is way better than cake for breakfast. I rule.
